Happening this week in Brisbane

Festival of
Tibet 2012

February 1st to February 5th at the Brisbane Powerhouse

Dalai Lama in Australia are proud to once again support the Festival of Tibet, now in its fourth year.

Last year's festival with the very special guest Ama Jetsun Pema la and the Man of Compassion & Wisdom, the Dalai Lama's Journey Photo Exhibition, was a great success resulting in rave reviews and a large donation being made to Tibetan Children's Village, India and the QLD Premier's Flood Relief Appeal.

This year Tenzin and his team are excited to announce that there are more special guests from India coming to join the festival. Dharamsala based author and activist Tenzin Tsundue and Dr Tsering Thakchoe from the Tibetan Astrological and Medical Institute will feature throughout the program which is packed full of film, talks, concerts, exhibitions and workshops.

Also at the festival, four monks from the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, who are always so generous with their wisdom and ancient rituals.

You are sure to find a workshop or two that appeals - paint your own Buddha with internationally renowned artist Karma Phuntsok, or have a go at Chakra or Sound Healing, Tibetan calligraphy and Tibetan ritual dances to name just a few. Some workshops are free and suitable for children too - they will love the Namka sky weaving activity available throughout the festival.

Of course don't forget the wonder of the Sand Mandala, which the monks from Tashi Lhunpo Monastery will be creating throughout the festival and then dismantling on the final day to demonstrate the nature of impermanence. In addition, there will also be two film screenings, 'Summer Pasture' and 'The Blue Buddha' which are both great films to watch.

Please visit www.festivaloftibet.com.au for further information and to secure your tickets.

Come along and immerse yourself in Tibetan Culture and help support the Tibetan Children's Village and Tashi Lhunpo Monastery.

Kind regards,

The Board of Dalai Lama in Australia and
Lynn Bain, General Manager DLIA
