JUNE 2009 Dear Friends, This time last year we had just finished five fabulous days of teachings with His Holiness. The Stages of Meditation Teachings held at the Dome in Homebush were a wonderful opportunity to connect with His Holiness, and now we have the opportunity again this year. Whilst we are well underway with the organisation of this year's, Our Future, Who is Responsible? visit, His Holiness has been busy travelling around the world, with visits to the United States, Denmark, Iceland, The Netherlands and France.

Days ago he received the diploma of Honorary Citizen of Paris from the Mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoe, and whilst in The Netherlands he met with leaders of the Protestant, Catholic and Jewish communities to discuss issues of faith.

Here in Australia, we are eagerly counting down the days for His Holiness' arrival once more.

Hobart & Melbourne Public Talks

Our Earth, Who is Responsible? is the subject of His Holiness' Public Talk in Hobart, whilst the Public Talk in Melbourne is World Peace, Who is Responsible? and will be held on the 20th Anniversary of the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to His Holiness in recognition of his work towards a peaceful resolution to the issue of Tibet.

Tickets to both the Hobart and Melbourne Public Talks will be available for purchase from our website from 12noon on Monday 22nd June.

The Teachings - Awakening the Mind

Tickets to the Teachings went on sale three weeks ago, with many taking advantage of the pre internet purchase period. The Teachings on Awakening the Mind that His Holiness will give are based on Nagarjuna's Commentary on Bodhicitta. They will touch on the two aspects of the awakening mind - the twin qualities of wisdom and compassion, which are necessary for anyone who aspires to be a better person and implement change in their lives.

The Dalai Lama makes no claim to be anything other than a 'simple Buddhist monk' but his practical advice for living and working in these current times is highly sought after and universal.

Special Announcement of
His Holiness' 2009 Visit

Dalai Lama in Australia hosted a special film screening of Soldiers of Peace documentary on Thursday 4 June at Chauvel Cinema in Paddington, to officially announce the December visit of His Holiness. The film screening was a huge success, with a special appearance from talented Tibetan singer and instrumentalist Tenzin Choegyal. The film's director, Tim Wise, spoke to the audience at the screening and shared his encounters with conflict and unity around the world whilst making the film. Amongst its many awards, the film was recently awarded Cannes Film Festival 2009 - Club of Budapest award. We would like to thank everyone who attended and shared this very special evening.
