We are thrilled to be bringing you our 3rd incredible Artist Announcement!
Headlining this announcement is ROBERT PLANT, the legendary front man of the band Led Zeppelin, presenting the Sensational Shape Shifters.
Led Zeppelin came to Australia in 1972 and a Robert Plant Tour of Australia has been long awaited by his Australian fans. He last toured in 1996 with Jimmy Page. Plant was voted in the Rolling Stone Readers Pick in 2011, 'The Best Lead Singer of All Time'. Even greater is the news the he has been performing 8 Led Zeppelin songs on stage on his current South American Tour. Now the wait is finally over - Robert Plant is coming to our shores and will headline Bluesfest on Saturday 30th of March.
Other outstanding artists in the 3rd announcement include Roger Hodgson - The Legendary Voice of Supertramp, 70's rock band Status Quo, former lead singer of the band YES Jon Anderson, as well as England's Ska/Punk/Soul/Pop heroes - Madness.
The already super strong Bluesfest bill just keeps growing with the 2 previous announcements including Santana, Jimmy Cliff, Iggy & The Stooges, Ben Harper, Steve Miller Band, Chris Isaak, Wilco and many more.

With this 3rd announcement it really feels like Bluesfest 2013 is delivering the best line up of its history.
Bringing Robert Plant to Bluesfest is a dream come true, not just for me, but for the thousands of fans who have been standing by patiently all these years!! We have waited together for so long and now it's gonna happen - I am so delighted and hugely honoured.
Welcoming back Roger Hodgson (The Legendary Voice of Supertramp) for the 2nd time is another absolute highlight. If you missed Roger Hodgson in 2010 don't do it again. His songs "Give a Little Bit" and "Lord Is It Mine" continue to give me goose-bumps after all these years.
There are just too many hits to name them all, and Roger's voice is just as it was all those years ago.
Status Quo, Jon Anderson and Madness; these are artists who are world class and give Bluesfest it's icing on the cake, but we are still not done yet. There are more artists still to be added in the upcoming weeks, but for now let's revel in the wonderment of this 3rd announcement.

Robert Plant Presents Sensational Space Shifters
Robert Plant, the legendary singer of Led Zeppelin will be making his long awaited Bluesfest debut this Easter with his band The Sensational Space Shifters.
Robert Plant is regarded as one of the most timeless and significant voices in the history of the rock music genre. He made his first commercial recordings in 1966. In 1967, he had also formed a group called the Band of Joy, with drummer John Bonham. Soon, Bonham, Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, and bassist John Paul Jones assembled to become The New Yardbirds which became Led Zeppelin.
Plant has since had a successful solo career, producing albums with Jimmy Page and recordings with bands like The Honeydrippers, Priory of Brion, and Strange Sensation. In 2010 he released an album with the Band of Joy, co-produced by his band mate Buddy Miller which received 2 Grammy Award nominations. In 2011, he was voted in a Rolling Stone readers' pick as first place in 'the best lead singers of all time'
Robert Plant will be treating Bluesfest audiences with some of his Led Zeppelin hits and if the set lists from his recent South America tour are anything to go by , you may be listening to the momentous 'Friends', 'Black Dog' , 'Whole Lotta Love', 'Rock and Roll', 'Going to California' alongside the sounds of his new project The Sensational Space Shifters which are said to be a loose band "inspired by the roots music of Mississippi, Appalachia, Gambia, Bristol and the foothills of Wolverhampton and drawing on influences collected in a lifetime of meander and journeying." Along-side Robert Plant will be his semi-regular guitarist Justin Adams and Juldeh Camara from Gambia, Justin's Ritti - playing partner in their duo Juju.
This is going to be one hell of a 'once in a lifetime' show.

Roger Hodgson The Legendary voice of Supertramp
**BRINGING HIS FULL BAND TO AUSTRALIA FOR THE FIRST TIME**
Roger Hodgson has been recognized as one of the most gifted composers, songwriters, and lyricists of our time. As the co-founder and legendary voice of Supertramp, he gave us the timeless classics such as "
Give a little bit
," "
The Logical Song
," "
School
," "
Dreamer
," "
Take the Long Way Home
," "
Breakfast In America
," "
Child of Vision
," "
Fool's Overture
," and so many others that have become the soundtrack of our lives. Many people don't realize that although Roger and Supertramp's other co-founder shared writing credit, they actually wrote and composed separately with each singing their own respective songs.
Hodgson co-founded Supertramp in 1969. During the 14 years that he led the band prior do his departure, Supertramp became a worldwide phenomenon with sales of over 60 million albums. Although Roger departed the band in 1983 and moved away from the Los Angeles music scene to Northern California to raise his children and be close to nature, he is still regarded by many as Supertramp's spiritual and creative force.
His songs have stood the test of time and are more relevant today, if not more so, than when they were released. Hodgson recently received the honour of two awards from ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) for "Give a Little Bit" and "Breakfast in America" being in the top played songs in their repertory.
Hodgson is currently on his world tour and selling out shows around the globe, in addition to receiving fantastic reviews from media and fans alike.

STATUS QUO
British rockers Status Quo themselves need no introduction: more hit singles than any other band, more hit albums than The Beatles, more appearances on TOTP than any other act; the superlatives keep coming. And nothing has changed, their latest single "The Winner" has been placed on the BBC Radio 2 playlist, the fifth consecutive single from recent album "Quid Pro Quo" to achieve this feat.
The original barnstorming rockers, Status Quo, often affectionately referred to as the mighty "Quo" maintain their remarkable position as one of the longest-standing rock bands in the world - selling an astounding 118 million records and possessing over 60 UK chart hits, a feat only rivaled by the legendary Rolling Stones.
This is the first new Quo studio album in four years since In Search of the Fourth Chord. The band's last album was their 29th to reach the Top 2, but the achievements and accolades that make up this extraordinary career are seemingly endless; awarded Best Festival Feel Good Act - in the UK Festival Awards; received the coveted Silver Clef Award; a Brit Award; seven and a half years (415 weeks) in the British singles charts; and a World Music Award for their invaluable contribution to the Music Industry. They were also the first contemporary band to play to Royalty when they performed a sold out charity show attended by HRH Prince Charles at the NEC in Birmingham. All proceeds were donated to the 'Prince's Trust'.
The band has also raised millions of dollars for children's charities through their epic Rock 'Til You Drop event, and were the world famous opening act for Live Aid at Wembley Stadium. Their performance had 1.5 billion viewers around the world glued to their sets and the event remains the most watched television special in history.
Their upcoming trip to Australia will mark nearly 50 incredible years of massive hits and electrifying live performances for a band that shows no sign of slowing down. For an undeniably feel good festival moment, catch the Quo performing all their hits and bunch of new songs this Easter at Bluesfest.

Madness
Madness - "The Working Man's Pink Floyd" Paul Morley - English Journo
Madness will be bringing their blend of ska, British pop and soul to Bluesfest for the first time this Easter. Madness is one of the leading 'Rude Boy' bands of the Ska revival of the late '70's and early '80's alongside The Specials.
Starting out as the North London Invaders in 1976, Madness have remained a British Phenomenon and they finally completed the 'ultimate invasion', performing their momentous hit "Our House" on the roof top of Buckingham Palace at the Queens Diamond Jubilee Concert, not to mention their performance at the Closing Ceremony of the London Olympic Games. They are soon set to release their 10th Studio album titled Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da.
To really understand the sheer 'madness' of Madness you only need to read one of Morley's live reviews on the band;
"Madness pop music is a mischievous hybrid of stubborn ska, bracing pop, sparky soul, music hall verve and blokey punk, cleverly made to sound simple and direct, and, superficially, sternly unsensual. Without making any kind of sentimental, maudlin fuss, Madness take care of business with an unstoppable energy that mixes the menacing, the charming and the cheerfully self-mocking. Gentlemanly singer Suggs is as always a wonderfully dispassionate witness to proceedings, leading his rowdy, mouthy gang of personalities, ego's, ne'r do wells and good time Charlies with nonchalant grace.
At times, Madness bounce off the walls of their thirty year career as if they have written the all time greatest sequence of witty, absurdly dignified one off hits - Our House, Baggy Trousers, My Girl, Wings of a Dove. They present themselves as if they are a comedy group, a bunch of well scrubbed up but slightly shabby wind up funsters who refuse to take anything seriously, including themselves, shamelessly happy to cash in on their past. As blatantly nostalgic as it all is, the group are still sharp enough, and the chatty, profound songs so impeccably delivered, that the show never descends into cynical worn out panto"
So... there is only one thing left to do .... Find your thinnest tie, put on that sharp suit and rustle up a pork pie hat because it is all about the Madness this Easter!!!

Jon Anderson The Legendary voice of YES
One of the most recognisable & influential voices in progressive rock, as the lead vocalist and creative force behind the band Yes, Jon Anderson was central to that band's phenomenal success. Jon's solo show includes many classic songs from all across the YES songbook & his own eclectic solo work.
Jon was the author and a major creative influence behind the series of epics produced by the legendary supergroup Yes and his role in creating such complex pieces as "Close to the Edge", "Awaken", and especially "The Gates of Delirium." Additionally, Jon co-authored the group's biggest hits, including "I've Seen All Good People," Roundabout," and "Owner Of A Lonely Heart." Noted for singing in his original Lancastrian accent, this is a chance to see this truly unique musician perform solo, up close and personal.
"Yes, Jon still is the voice...Anderson’s voice remains exquisite, never more so than on Find My Way Home, Wondrous Stories and the sublime Soon excerpt from The Gates Of Delirium.
"
- EXPRESS & STAR
Irish born Anderson, started off fronting Mabel Greer's Toyshop, before forming Yes, however his musical career has never been creatively limited. Be it working on four celebrated albums with Oscar winner Vangelis, or playing with the likes of Toto, Glass Hammer, Dream Theater, Kitaro, King Crimson, Mike Oldfield, Peter Machajdik, Gowan, Rick Wakeman's concept album '1984' and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones or producing 13 highly acclaimed solo albums.Jon has always found different avenues for creativity, be it composing and playing with dozens of orchestras throughout the world, composing ballet scores or contributing to countless film scores and painting.
"The mega bands of the late 70’s had become somewhat distanced from their fans, it is great to see seasoned performers like Jon Anderson move back to simpler roots." - BLOGSPOT
2013 will mark Jon Anderson's first ever solo Bluesfest appearance.
